Always choose people who are better than you. Always choose people who challenge you and are smarter than you. Always be the student.
Recently, I saw these statements and I immediately thought of our HFMA Florida environment. This year I choose the theme “Better Together” and I am reminded of how true this is every time I attend an educational event and interact with members from our Chapter.
The learning we achieve together is invaluable, and the relationships and connections we create impact us personally and professionally. This year we are off to a strong start with various amazing and innovative education events. Our fall conference was memorable for several reasons. We launched our first conference App for this conference and it proved to be an innovative way for attendees to interact throughout the conference. The panels and education delivered received rave reviews from attendees; and the creative, exciting, and competitive “Amazing Race” networking event was a hit. There have also been several relevant regional one day events in addition to our third annual Senior Executive Retreat, a joint meeting with the Alabama Chapter, several Strategic Alliance events, and our first Early Careerist event at Top Golf!
All of these wonderful events couldn’t be possible without the tireless support of our many Chapter volunteers who devote their time and passion for the Chapter to plan and execute these events. The generosity of our Corporate Sponsors provides the funding for us to continue to enhance the venues, capabilities, and experience we can deliver at each event. I am extremely appreciative of everyone who contributes in this way.
Our Chapter’s growth is evident from the weekly notifications I receive of new members joining our Chapter. As the largest HFMA Chapter, it is exciting to see our membership numbers continue to grow! Each new member enriches our Chapter and strengthens are ability to be “Better Together.” We are seeing our membership expand to all stakeholders in healthcare with individuals from hospitals, physician practices, payors, service providers, and an abundance of new early careerists! I encourage each one of you to share the value you receive from HFMA and encourage a colleague or friend to join.
I continue to say what an honor it is to serve as your Chapter President and I am so thankful for the opportunity to volunteer and learn along the talented and dedicated healthcare professionals who are part of our HFMA family! It may seem a bit cliché but there is no better time to be in healthcare. There will always be constant changes and challenges in this environment and it is an ideal time for individuals to rise up to these challenges and thrive!
Hoping to see many of you at our next Statewide Conference in Orlando in January!
In closing, thank you again for allowing me to serve as President for this great chapter and I am so proud to call FL my home chapter.
