Happy New Year!
Our 45th President was recently inaugurated and everyone is anxiously waiting to see what changes to the Affordable Care Act will be revealed in his first 100 days. Most would agree that for hospitals and health systems, changes are coming from multiple directions. Potential conversion of federal Medicaid support to block grants, a repeal of the individual mandate, and additional reimbursement declines are just a few of the potential changes we will face in the coming months and years. One the bright side, we have HFMA to provide the resources to help us as we all navigate through the continuously changing, ever challenging, healthcare industry.
For our Chapter, the calendar of events is already filling up with several great educational and networking events. The New Year kicks off with our Mid-Winter Provider/Payor Conference in Orlando, followed in February with our first ever joint meeting with the Puerto Rico Chapter. Regional meetings and events with some of our Strategic Partner are also already planned for 1st quarter.
The second quarter will bring us to the close of our Chapter year and a transition to our 2017-2018 Board of Directors. I am excited to announce that the following 2017-2018 Board of Directors have been confirmed and will transition to their new leadership positions for the Chapter effective June 1, 2017.
